I wish that a vaccine were available to get me through this election season. The sound bite rhetoric from the Kerry campaign is enough to make the strongest elephant sick to his stomach. Oh yeah, I forgot. That shouldn’t be a problem. According to John Edwards, the moment John Kerry is elected President, the paralyzed will rise up from their wheel chairs, and those with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease will be cured. Surely a little political nausea would be no problem at all.
I only wish the American people could remember beyond the last Kerry stump speech. Doesn’t anyone remember when the President told us that the war on terror may be fought from now until far into the future? Doesn’t anyone remember when the President told us that the war in Iraq may go on for several years? Doesn’t anyone remember the opinion polls about possible war casualties and whether or not we had the guts to stick it out? Back then, a very large majority said we could stay the course, regardless of the body counts.
President Bush has been up front and honest with the citizens and he tells it like it is while making no empty promises. John Kerry, on the other hand, says absolutely anything without regard to reality, solely for the purpose of winning the election. I beg you to take a good hard look at Mr. Kerry and Mr. Edwards and what they are saying.
Any thinking adult should know better than to believe that Osama Bin-Laden will be caught and the Iraqi terrorists will be slaughtered by virtue of the skills of John Kerry. Any thinking adult should realize that John Kerry is simply a snake oil healer with a slick tongue and an irresponsible quest to achieve his life long ambition. John Kerry and John Edwards will stop at nothing to beat President Bush and they will do so at the expense of the land they claim to love. They will do so without regard to honesty and integrity.
The Democrats left us a mess with Jimmy Carter, who savaged the military, gave up control of the Panama Canal, and showed absolute weakness in dealing with the roots of terrorism in Iran. Then there was Bill Clinton’s prosperous decade which turned out to be smoke and mirrors. Remember that Enron and the other accounting scandals were brewing during the Clinton Presidency. Please remember that the Dot-Com bubble grew during President Clinton's stint and ultimately burst into flames before he was gone. Remember the continuous failures to show strength and resolve. The World Trade Center was attacked in 1993, the Embassies were bombed, and the U.S.S. Cole was savaged. Bin Laden remembered and he laid his plans accordingly.
Now is the time for people to wise up and use the common sense that the almighty bestowed upon us. Don't fall for the opportunistic screeches coming from the Kerry campaign machine, most of which would seem absurd even in a Foghorn Leghorn cartoon episode. Now is the time to stay the course and to keep our faith in the professional military. They will continue to do their jobs as best they can in very difficult circumstances.
President Bush, thank God, does not hand the military brass line-item marching orders. Such behavior would result in far more dead soldiers than we are seeing now. I fear that a President Kerry would not have that same restraint, because as you know very well by now, he has four months of combat experience in Vietnam.
