I hope that you don't take this as unwelcome meddling from a neighbor, but for my own sanity I must at least try to share my feelings. I have been utterly stunned over the past few years at Senator Daschle's continuous and transparently partisan obstructionism.
If President Bush was for an issue or announced a decision, you could count to ten, turn on the news, and hear Senator Daschle condemning the President while shaking his head in mock disbelief. At first it was almost comical. Unfortunately, the Senator and the rest of the Democratic leaders have crossed the line, and politicized the war in Iraq and the war on terror.
You only need to read recent news stories about Insurgent leaders praising acts of terror as key to defeating President Bush to know what effect this partisanship has had. The effect has resulted in more violence and more American casualties than would have been necessary. I don’t think that the Senator and his friends comprehend what they have done, or I would consider them evil. I think that they are simply blinded by liberal political ambition.
Knowing that my neighbors to the north generally share our family oriented, relatively conservative attitudes and values, I have been mystified at why you have kept Senator Daschle for so long. If it is because of his position, I would suggest that it is time to invest in someone else. He has become a real liability for you and the Nation.
Thanks for hearing me out.
