This is going to be short and sweet. I have been reading headlines these past few days which make me cringe and feel ill to my stomach. Not because the words in the headlines were objectionable, and not because the stories were about anything particularly nefarious. The cringing illness comes because I have formed a mental picture of Congress, the House and the Senate, that shatters any shred of pride that I once felt regarding the Legislative branch of our National government.
Headline from MSNBC.COM today...
Dems, GOP fight over Gas Prices
When I read this, all I can think of to say to myself is… oh, for Pete’s sake! The National political scene has degenerated into a Jerry Springer show spectacle. If you don’t recall what that was all about, the primary thrust of the program was always centered on a group of ridiculous (they can’t belong to the human race) people, who were generally inept and morally bankrupt.
The guests often had such insurmountable problems, such as a mother that is angry with her daughter, because the daughter is now dating the mother’s ex live-in boyfriend. Or a single mother who simply cannot convince her twelve-year old daughter not to have sex with twenty-year old men on school nights.
What the heck are the Dems and the GOP fighting about? They are fighting over a perceived opportunity to blame one another for high gas prices. What they should be doing, and what they were hired to do, is to sit down together and strategize how this country’s energy needs can be met at the lowest cost and with a high level of reliability and security of supply.
For Pete’s Sake!
