The Romper Room Strategic Defense Initiative

I do not really care what came before this clip or after. It provides ample evidence of the typical Peter Pan-like, Fantasy-Trumps-Reality thinking of Barack Obama and any other liberal who might aspire to the office of Commander-in-Chief.

I hope that America remembers what Bill Clinton did to our military in the name of the Peace Dividend. Surely those who endured during and after the Clinton liberals ravaged our Armed Services remember. We cannot afford this play-school approach to the defense of the United States and our many interests around the world, so if you think Barack Obama offers a "fresh" new face for leadership in this nation, then God help us.

Dear God... Will you please give to us a child.

God blessed Lee and Rachel and gave to them the child they had longed for, and for good measure God gave to them three more, for a total of four (Quadruplets). Praise God from whom all blessings flow indeed... for sometimes, the blessings seem extra abundant.

The experience of having children is a joyous one, and naturally it is also a time when we are filled with trepidation. I recall wondering what on Earth I had done, and if I was capable of being a father. When the little one came home it was exciting and terrifying all at the same time.

This fine young couple, Lee and Rachel, must have all of the normal emotions that new parents experience. Yet, I cannot imagine the extra dynamic that four babies all at once must bring to the show.

On top of the the daunting reality of having quadruplets, is the added fact that these babies were born at an extremely premature age. They said the babies were only 23 weeks and 5 days along. Thus, all of them have been listed in Critical Condition at the Newborn ICU at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where they will remain for some time.

We have one of those special circumstances in front of us, when we are blessed to witness a remarkable expression of life and hope, mingled with a good dose of hardship, worry, and challenges. I am going to ask that you consider helping this instantly large family with your financial blessings, and to that end I have set up a means for you to do so.

Click here to see how you can help.  This is also available from my list of Pages at the top of the second column. See: "A Flood of Babies".

Listen... I am simply an awestruck Uncle, who is watching from the sidelines. In that light, I want to record a special message intended for the little ones to consider... after they have grown a bit, of course.

DO NOT believe a word your mom and dad tell you about Uncle Phil. I am not nearly as odd as they would have you believe.

Now here... Pull My Finger.

The Legislator Virus - Fatal to Local Control

I received a letter from Dana Hanley (PrincipledDiscovery.com) regarding an effort in Nebraska to force a change for apparently no good reason... (Nebraska LB-1157)

"This bill changes Nebraska's current testing model which is the last one in the nation truly exemplifying local control of education in favor of the same rigid standardized testing adopted in other states."

Click here to read Dana's full article

Thank you Dana, for the heads up. Is this yet another example of legislators, driven to fiddle and twiddle with our laws and our lives for no good reason? You know... other than to feel a sense of justification for their presence.

This phenomenon is real, and it is the reason our law books have swelled beyond the ability of common men and women to deal with one another according to common sense. It is the reason that our tax code cannot be consistently interpreted even by those charged with enforcing it.

This self-justifying urge to legislate is the antithesis of common sense. It is like a virus that marches from cell to cell, infecting, multiplying, destroying as it spreads into yet uninfected areas. The "Legislator Virus" is related, if not genetically identical, to the liberal scourge. Those left-stumbling zealots who's ideal is to replace our freedom to live under self-determination, with the heavy hand of centralized government. Socialism in capitalist's clothing, no less.

Give it some thought fellow Nebraskans. Let your legislators know (at all levels), that it is often best to just leave well-enough alone, and that a busy legislator is not necessarily a prudent one. When we find that we have elected someone to office that simply cannot resist the urge to legislate for the sake of legislating, then we must recognize the symptoms of the "Legislator Virus", for which the only cure is to un-elect them.

Delusional Democrats: Warm Fuzzies of Infanticide

To vomit,; or not to vomit: That is the question: Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to dispose of one’s supper, or to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous equivocation, and take arms against a sea of fellows and colleagues, and by writing in opposition, reveal thoughts conceived in fraudulence.

Perhaps that sounds like so much gobbledygook to you, and no doubt, Shakespeare is flopping about in his coffin like a grounded catfish. Therefore, you may have some sense of my pent-up irritation, having endured as a witness to the systematic programming of my fellow citizens.

Obama, Clinton, Same Coin
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama disagree about who is liberal enough. Both support unencumbered abortion on demand. Barack Obama is on record, bemoaning the loss of partial birth abortion rights for women. Hillary says Obama's record threatens abortion rights. They are two sides of the same coin.

Conscientious, moral people have been played like a gypsy’s violin. You have been trained by repetitious exercise, like so many carpet-wetting puppies that now, without hesitation, spew the script that was written for you by power-lusting, left-wing democrats. I have watched this unfold from the beginning, unwilling to acknowledge a likelihood that these political whores could actually seduce the common-sense out of people I love and respect.

Yet here we are, in the midst of caucus mania. I now wear my naiveté like a loin cloth, embarrassed by my blind faith and horrified to contemplate the consequences this nation may endure. God help me, for my will to crawl under a rock and hide grows stronger each day.

Yes, common sense and reasoned thinking has been replaced by a simple mantra, practiced on the internet by multitudes of liberal, if not outright anarchistic malcontents; each given to an orgasmic desire to use the “F” word often and with malice.

Whether you say it precisely this way or not, the following is what you have purchased, in essence, as the wisdom of enlightened thinking:  “F…” Bush, the “moron who lied” and now the “soldiers have died”, and “he did it for the oil to make his rich oil buddies even richer” and “he did it because Saddam tried to kill his father.”

So, despite the unified resolve we all felt and thought on that infamous September day, just seven years ago, the truth of the matter reveals that a large number of America’s people haven’t the intestinal fortitude to stand for anything. The fatigue of having our sons, daughters, nephews, nieces, mothers, fathers, co-workers, friends, and neighbors engaged in a very real war has a great many hollering uncle.  (more follows)

King's Dreams are Nightmares for Today's Separatist Leaders

There are many, who are quick to point out King's personal shortcomings. Whether you choose to believe any or all of those stories is a matter for your own due diligence. Regardless of any of that, the man could certainly give a good speech, and the "I have a dream" speech chokes me up every time I read it.

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

I get choked up, because it makes so much sense. I get choked up, because I see that much of what Dr. King dreamed of, has been achieved, yet there has arisen a veritable civil rights industry. It is a multi-headed beast, each with its own name such as Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan, and others.

The beast does not want Martin Luther King's dreams to come true. Not this dream anyway...

"I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood."

...which would mean an end to their lifestyle, power, and authority. The fulfillment of King's dreams would render Barach Obama's church, Trinity United Church of Christ, virtually impotent, as their doctrine seems to be wrapped irretrievably in black separatist bindings.

Yes, let us remember Martin Luther King on this day. Remember his dreams, and relish the progress made since the day he spoke of them. Let us all continue to reach out for the hands of our neighbors.

Those who reach back, may boast that the content of their character is beyond reproach. Those who slap our hands away (Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton, Farrakhan, etc.) have demonstrated utter contempt for character content. The color of one's skin is for them, and always will be, paramount.

Yet, they will continue to pay homage to King and his dreams.

Smoking Satan in 2008

As many of you know, I have been a smoker for many years, and to be quite honest with you, it has been a 300 lb. gorilla on my back that simply will not let go. Somehow, the moment has come once again, where I have gathered up the gumption to quit. This time is different though, because I have a battle plan that may have been hatched by the Angels themselves. Yes, my battle to quit smoking is going to extend beyond the physical realm, and may indeed spill over into fierce spiritual warfare.

I think that Satan wants me to smoke, and he loves the idea that I have been subservient to this habit/addiction for all these years. It likely falls into that category of things that are put ahead of serving God. It has become a "god" in my life, so to speak, and I have been a loyal subject, willing to expend great effort to insure that cigarettes are within easy reach.

So here's the plan...

What did you get from the 60's and 70's?

You know, the 60's and 70's are notorious for screwing up the lives of a lot of people. Many young men and women were in search of the "answer". This is a great look at some of them, who found their Answer. What they found is as true today as it was then.

Note:  I don't know who the woman is, but this appears to be from some kind of a program. If you have insight into this event, or the woman, it would be interesting to know. In any case, please focus on the young men and their music, and the words of young Mr. Girard.

About: Jesus Christ

(Published in TownHall.com on Dec 5, 2007)

My next statement is one-hundred percent correct. Not one person who saw my headline thought to himself or herself, "Jesus Christ… who is that?" Perhaps some of you thought I was swearing. Others, no doubt, are offended that I should use the name of Jesus in such a manner. In any case, the name rings a bell for everyone.

The name Jesus is familiar in nearly every corner of the globe. For the Jews, Jesus was a Rabbi who stirred things up at a particular time in history. The Muslim's Quran speaks of Jesus as one of the great Prophets, created miraculously. Muslims believe that Jesus did not die on the cross, but ascended to Heaven while still alive.

Christians believe Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried. Then he arose from the dead and ascended to heaven. This is central to the Christian faith, because the entire reason for Jesus' coming was to defeat the consequences of sin, and eternal death. Christians believe that Jesus took the death penalty of sin upon Himself, and paid the price on our behalf.

Kindle Edition - Cry for the Shadows

My short novel Cry for the Shadows is now available for Amazon's new Kindle, the e-book reader. It was a little bit tricky formatting it for the device, but it turned out pretty good in the end. This device is cool; although, it is also a bit pricey at $400. You buy books right from the device, wirelessly... sort of like a cell phone, and you pay nothing for the wireless service.

Abortion and the U.S. Constitution

Published at TownHall.com on Nov. 22, 2007

I am thankful for my constitutional scholar hat, which I am wearing at this very moment. It is a magic hat, of course, because I am not a constitutional scholar. To make it work, I sprinkle a bit of common sense powder and a dash of logical thinking on the inside of it. Then when I put it on, …BAM!!!

For all of you front-end baby boomers, the answer is no. Common sense powder is not a hallucinogen, and no, I do not buy my logical thinking in a bottle imported from Mexico. I realize that many of today's social realities were conceived in that manner, and that our liberal politicians lost far too many brain cells during their period of enlightenment, otherwise known as attending college in the '60s.

Unfortunately, those were the brain cells that contained wisdom, passed down from parents, grandparents, and educators; not yet infected by the viral scourge of hedonism. Even in the poorest of communities, a fierce pride was maintained in the fight to provide for the family. Values and character were instilled in children by parents with as much urgency as the struggle to provide food for their bellies.

My last column was addressed to Fed Thompson, a candidate for the Republican nomination to run for President in 2008. I suggested that his desire to place the question of abortion in the hands of individual states was unwise, and that the result would be the perpetuation of abortion in a handful of liberal states.

Memo to Fred - Infanticide is Not a State's Right

Published on TownHall.com on Nov. 19, 2007

For some, it is a feeling in the gut, while others call it common sense. Give it whatever name you wish, but it is that God given inner voice that whispers advice whether we want it or not. The louder the little voice gets, the more likely it is correct. So often, we ignore the little voice, and then stand in amazement as misfortune runs over us like a runaway freight train.

Now I am going to address someone directly, which is a bit unusual. Normally, when I have something to say about a political figure, my ulterior motive is to speak to my fellow underlings ( a.k.a. citizens like me who vote). In this case; however, Fred Thompson is a candidate in whom I find a lot of comfort.

The "I'm tired of hearing about it..." Phenomenon

There used to be some unmentionable taboos in society. You know... like saying the word "pregnant" on television. Veteran's Day After

(Previously Published on TownHall: Nov 12, 2007)

It is wonderful that we have a special day to commemorate our Veterans. It is fantastic to honor those who have passed on and those who are still with us. In fact, it may be better to have a Veteran’s day every month, such as Veteran’s Tuesday or some such variation.

I think that we should swap out some of our lesser holidays, such as President’s Day and even Columbus Day and make those Veteran’s Days too. After all, those old President’s are long gone, and are mostly irrelevant now, and gee whiz, even if Columbus knew he was the subject of such an honor in this country, he would have no idea who we are. It may just get him riled up, because he might wonder how the Queen of Spain managed to screw up all of his hard work.

I find it somewhat distressing, that the ranks our Greatest Generation are dwindling so quickly now. These men and women knew without question the value of their service, and they are rightly proud to this very day of what they accomplished. They will all be gone one day, and no longer available to share their stories of courage in the face of fear, and determination in the face of unreasonable odds.

The Culling of Humanity is Necessary?

(Previously Published on TownHall as: "The Liberal Conscience" on Nov 8, 2007)

What exactly is a Liberal anyway? He is the bleeding heart; the champion for the underdog, who is ever concerned about “the man” having too much authority over individuals. That definition must then contrast with the fat cat, money grubbing, and (nose always in my business) definition for the Conservative… right?

Nature has been the unwitting recipient of liberal, smothering-mother instincts. Global warming may be the equivalent of a child who is running a fever of 98.9 degrees. Doctor Gore’s advice to all of the fretting mother hens is that an ambulance must be called immediately.

Castration by Proxy - A Congressional Affliction

(Published on Townhall.com, Oct 27, 2007)

Body Integrity Identity Disorder is an extremely odd state of mind, in which individuals desire to have one or more limbs amputated for no medical reason. Another less scientific label used to describe these people… amputee wannabes.

I have watched a couple of documentary pieces on the subject, yet despite the intimate interviews with sufferers, I always come away perplexed why anyone would be consumed by such a desire. Why long for a handicap that can only make life difficult, not only for themselves, but also for those who are close to them?

Lessons for Bin Laden?

This question was posed to me in the comments. It required a rather lengthy answer, so... it deserves a post of its own.

... Dear Citizen Phil, Exactly what lesson is Usama Bin Laden supposed to learn when we retaliate for 9-11 by eliminating Usama's enemy Saddam? ...

Dear Tom:

To declare categorically that Saddam was Bin Laden's enemy is a bit of a stretch. A more accurate description would be nervous bedfellows.

Al-Qaeda operatives enjoyed, at the very least, a tolerated presence in Saddam's Iraq. Perhaps they were not invited guests, but then Saddam was not about to hunt them down either.

We Read Family FurTo answer your question directly... there is no lesson for Bin Laden in the picture at all. Bin Laden was responsible for the attacks on the United States. Saddam was responsible for disregarding the cease-fire agreements, which caused George H.W. Bush to withdraw from Iraq without demanding an unconditional surrender.

Saddam was purposefully provocative militarily, and evasive regarding his weapons programs. And yes, he did have weapons programs at various stages of development in violation of agreements.

The fact that we did not find stockpiles of suspected biological and/or chemical weapons does not provide him cover; rather, it only tells us that our intelligence was faulty regarding his progress. In any case, the responsibility for the action taken against Saddam's regime, rests fully on Saddam.

We disassembled Bin Laden's puppet Taliban regime, and we disassembled Saddam's ever-threatening military empire.

The issues are separate and distinct, yet Al-Qaeda has chosen to engage our forces (and innocent Iraqi civilians) in the Iraqi theater. That fact is what I see as the current advantage to our operations in Iraq... that Al-Qaeda's not-unlimited resources have been and continue to be depleted there, and their tactics of inspiring the religious to become suicide weapons has become more difficult.

This is the case, despite the oft-cited claims that we are spawning new suicide-prone terrorists. Many would-be applicants have since retreated and have become disillusioned with Al-Qaeda and their maniacal leader.

Despite claims that I have the intellect of a neo-con mushroom, I want people to examine the issues as they should be examined, by not purposefully wadded them together like a sticky ball of duct tape.

Thanks for writing,

Invasion of the Ronulans

I have been watching the response to my article on TownHall.com, regarding Ron Paul's anti-Iraq war attitude. To be honest with you, I am somewhat taken aback by the venomous angst directed not only my way, but also toward anyone who might dare question the merits of the Dr. Ron Paul rhetoric.

Come on people... duh, it was not Iraq who attacked us. But Iraq is a lot better place to fight the lunatic terrorists than are the mountains of Afghanistan. Since pre-invasion Iraq was itching for a confrontation, thumbing their nose at the cease-fire which (temporarily) stopped the previous engagement, we had every good reason to restart hostilities in Iraq. French and Russian radar-guided anti-aircraft systems were going in as fast as our pilots could destroy them, and all this going on while those country's leaders were ratcheting up the "End the Sanctions" pressure in the United Nations.

Ron Paul's Prescription for Disaster?

There is a growing attitude about war and the defense of our nation, stoked by men such as Ron Paul, which proclaims that we have no business doing what we are doing. The claim is that our Constitution and the intent of our Founding Fathers should prohibit us from engaging in such activities as the war in Iraq. If you argue for the merits of the war, then the charge is made that you cannot possibly respect the Constitution.

The principles of the founders, which they so eloquently enshrined in the Constitution, were never (and I will argue until I am blue in the face) intended to be a prescription for suicide. Despite the rhetoric of "fighting for freedom and democracy for those other people" (the Iraqis), which gets painted over the issue for the world's consumption, the fact remains that we were indeed attacked by a people, on our shores. They don't give a damn about what we did or did not do before (except that we supported the creation of modern day Israel).

No, no, no... I simply could not accept such an honor. But let me offer a heartfelt thank-you to all who have nominated me, and encouraged me to run for the highest office in the land. If only life were not so dog-gone busy.

In any case, now that we have that out of the way, I should talk about those who do have time to run for President. Of all of the hat-thrower-inners, I suppose I have the best gut-feeling about District Attorney, Arthur Branch... I mean, um... Fred Thompson. A Little White Dog and his Squeaky Blue Pencil

I remember as a boy, when days seemed as long as weeks, weeks were as long as months and years were beyond comprehension. Birthdays marked the beginning of another lifetime spent waiting for the next birthday to arrive.

Pencil_260
Now the days are as long as minutes, weeks as long as hours, months are like days and years just pass by like so many mile markers on a drowsy highway. I looked into the eyes of my just-born sons just a while ago, it seems, but for each of them that moment was a lifetime ago.

Donkey in the Sitting Room

Once again, I am utterly flabbergasted at the venomous ignorance displayed by liberals around the globe. When such behavior is displayed by University students such as this brilliant fellow (in league with the student editorial board), I get a bit nauseated and disheartened about the future.

This comes from the Colorado State University student newspaper, “The Rocky Mountain Collegian” and was published as an editorial in the opinion page, saying "Taser this .. (expletive) BUSH."

Read more about it here: http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,297708,00.html

Anyway, such a moronic display deserves to be addressed loudly by the American Public. I emailed the faculty advisors this response on the subject. They claim that responses will be reviewed in a Tuesday meeting as they investigate the matter.

Holy Cow!

I can simply imagine that intense pride swells in your breast, after you have made such a heroic stand for the defense of free speech. Yes, in fact the image is so vivid that it makes me want to vomit. I have long been fond of the bright intellect of youth, and so [his] death grieves me to no end.

I suspect that behind this brilliance lies a simple fascination with using the guttural word for copulation. This practice has been rewarding in popular music, to the exclusion of demonstrable talent in either verse or melodic assembly.

Bless you also, for validating a long-simmering notion that “the press” bears resemblance in name only, to a principle that once was worth dying-for. Perhaps one day, the wisdom of such First Amendment ideals will regain our affections. Your efforts; however, cast such an outcome in the darkest of shadows, and I should not restrain my breath while waiting.

Sincerely,

Phil Harris

Perhaps you could have a few words to share with the “Editorial Board” as well. I encourage you to deliver your message clearly and with due haste; because, there is very little worse than a moron, who believes him or herself to be an intellectual giant. It is akin to feeding a donkey a bucket or two of greasy cornmeal, and then locking him up in the formal sitting room. You know… the one that has the white carpets and silky light-colored upholstery.

This is, of course, only a partial victory in the greater war against infanticide in America, but it is a victory, nevertheless.

Here is a snippet from an email broadcast, sent out by Jay Sekulow. His group, the ACLJ, has been an effective advocate in this and other legal battles.

Today we applaud the Supreme Court of the United States for its decision to uphold the national ban on partial-birth abortion and outlaw the gruesome procedure. The ACLJ filed amicus briefs in both cases before the Supreme Court - including one on behalf of some 80 members of Congress and more than 320,000 Americans.

This is a monumental victory for the preservation of human life. By rejecting the lawsuits challenging the national ban, the high court demonstrated that this horrible practice has no place in the medical community. We're delighted and encouraged that a majority of the Justices of the high court determined that it was time to bring an end to what only can be described as infanticide. This decision represents an important shift in the ongoing battle to protect human life and represents a very significant pro-life victory in the abortion debate.

Praise God Almighty for this great news, and in a week otherwise tragically stained with the blood of those murdered at Virginia Tech. Take that, "doctor" Carhart. Too bad, you will no longer get to see and feel the little babies squirm, as you stab them in their little heads and suction their brains out. You will now have to get your monstrous jollies in some other way.

If you are wondering why this was such an important victory, and why I and others hold "doctor" Carhart in such disdain, please read the testimony before Congress of Brenda Pratt Shafer, R.N., included in this earlier article.

Monsters in America

(Published Monday, 04/16/2006 at Townhall.com)

I am writing this prior to having any clue about the perpetrator, or his motives in the Virginia Tech shooting horror, but for some odd reason I feel compelled to say something. Can we adequately express our condolences to the loved ones of those killed and wounded? The short answer is that we cannot.

As a nation, these past two decades have given each of us, more than our share of opportunity to use the old adage, "There, but for the Grace of God, go I." We may offer them our empathy though, for that very reason. As more and more of these sick tragedies occur in our various communities, I think most of us have, at some level, prepared ourselves for the day when it will hit closer to home.

What is it that infects these people, and turns them into abominable monsters? They appear to have little to no sympathy for the innocent, and in this case, the killing and wounding was so widespread, that one cannot fathom any possible motive of payback for a perceived wrong. Of course, payback killing is also indefensible, but at least we can look at the process and see, at the very least, a twisted reason.

Bare-Bottomed Democrats on Display

Never have I witnessed a more short-sighted bunch of spoiled brats in positions of leadership, or aspiring for leadership, than we have in the Democrats today. We have the first female Speaker of the House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi is apparently not satisfied with that job, because she simply cannot keep her hands off of the duties and roles assigned to the Presidency. Just a few seconds of self reflection, should send every one of the usual suspects under their mother's skirts from sheer embarrassment.

Now, embarrassed is a funny word when you stop and think about it. It describes a feeling of shame, or a state of existence where one would rather not be. It describes a feeling, where you know critical eyes are watching in disapproval.

Words rarely exhibit such an exquisite construction of components that so accurately describes human emotion as does this word. Think how you would feel if suddenly your pants were to fall down, and you are left standing in public, bare (bottom) hanging out for all to see.

Is it coincidence, or is this how this word came into existence? There are many words that begin with the em- prefix, such as emboldened, which means that you have gained boldness. So then, just to be clear, embarrassed means that you have gained a bare (bottom). This, of course, would be humiliating for most of us.

Deep Thoughts about Imus in Mourning

Editorial Note: A wise man pointed something out to me. Even though many have the same impression of Imus (scruffy, geezer, constipated, etc.), my discussion of issues will be better served, if I refrain from attacking an individual's appearance. On reflection, I have to agree. Some aspects of appearance are under an individuals control, but most are not, and have little to do with attitudes or ideology. I will leave this article as posted, with this note, but in the future I will try to remember that advice.
So... the scruffy old geezer finally went too far it seems. There has been a lot published on this topic already, so I probably will save some finger fatigue and not say too much. One particularly direct column from yesterday was by Michelle Malkin, who wasn't even a little shy about using all those "words" in the title of her piece.

I guess that I am a little bit on the shy side, so I won't be typing those words. However, the meaty part of her point was made by sharing the lyrics of the top six songs on Billboard Magazine's Hot Rap Tracks chart for the week. Every one of the top six "songs" made frequent, front and center use of the "N" word, the "B" word, the "H" word, and all the other "first-letter" words that one can imagine. Therefore, the fact that such an uproar was launched because some "white" idiot said "nappy-haired" and used the "H" word does not really balance out with the real problems of disrespect in the affected community.

From the articles that I have read, no one was particularly broken up regarding Imus's outcome, because... well no one cared for the guy anyway. I could never stand to watch him, because he always looks like he is constipated, and he looks as if he is still trying to "work it loose" while talking into the microphone.

Regardless of Imus's sphincter exercises, and that his offensive words were ridiculous, the most disgusting thing was watching the nauseating, sanctimonious, fart-mouthed grandstanding (once again) by our dear "love-thy-neighbor-unless-he-is-white" friends, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. What those two men have done these past twenty or forty years to the black community, is little different in my view from what a pimp does to his working girls. They tell their "constituents" that they are working for their best interests, when in fact, the only interests they have are how much face time they can score in front of the television cameras.

It makes me want to puke, just writing about it [gag-cough].... so I think I'll just stop right here.

A word about the Easter Celebration

What is it that we are acknowledging on this day? It is not the remembrance of Christ's horrible mistreatment at the hand of pious men. It is not the sorrow of the friends of Jesus, as they watched him die, and then placed him in the tomb. We celebrate Easter, because it marks the day that sin was defeated for all of eternity.

It marks the day that Christ rose from the dead, as he said he would. It is the fulfillment of the prophesies that the Messiah would come. Christ defeated sin, and thanks be to God Almighty, that he gave his only son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but shall have eternal life!

The Old Men (Are) Dreaming Dreams

Do you have a sense that the “other shoe” is about to drop; a sense of impending change; a quickening? The mind can play funny games, no doubt, but I have to admit that something in life seems different, somehow.

If you are not of the Christian faith, then perhaps this discussion will seem odd. If you are atheist or agnostic, you likely have reasoned yourself into believing (or not believing), that such is of little consequence. Nevertheless, I would like to point out that in a world where there are few absolutes, and where knowledge of fact can become yesterday’s mistaken assumption, a wise man will temper his wisdom with perpetual self doubt. If a wise man stands rigidly on nuggets of reasoned wisdom, for rigidity’s sake, that man may find himself standing on lumps of fool’s gold when the new day dawns.

Bible scholars have argued forever about the mysterious book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. It was written by the Apostle John., when he was in exile on a small Greek island in the Aegean Sea, called Patmos. The style of the book has been labeled, apocalyptic literature, and it is filled with mysterious and downright frightening descriptions of coming events, revealed to him by Jesus Christ.

Senator Hagel, A Portrait of Confusion

(Also published on Townhall.com)

I hate writing about Senator Hagel of Nebraska. This man is one-half of the State's voice in the U.S. Senate, and he cannot decide if he is a Republican or a Democrat on critical national issues. Does this mean that he is independent and thus, his is a voice for which we should be grateful?

The distinction is, in fact, very important. By electing our Senators and Representatives, citizens are given a voice in the Federal government. That citizen voice belongs in Congress, not in the office of the President, except for the opportunity every four years, when we can speak on the subject of who should occupy the office.

Senator Hagel is unable to decide if we should carry a big stick or simply lie down and play dead. Senator Hagel does not seem to know, if he wants to be President, is the President, or if we simply do not need a strong President after all.

Stewards of the Flame

2nd Carnival of Principled Government, Axioms of a Free SocietyThe United States is under intense scrutiny these days. The widespread consensus, both foreign and domestic, seems to agree that Americans should pack her troops and send them home. What business is it of ours that we should try to dictate the behavior of nations?

I can understand where this sentiment comes from, and I can understand how our own citizens are weary of spending our blood and our treasure. The costs are high and painful in this quest to battle unseen boogiemen in lands far away. I maintain; however, that our goals in this regard are noble, and are in keeping with the spirit of the founders of our great nation.

Never before in history have people come from all corners of the globe in search of freedom, and so successfully implemented their desires. America’s spirit, the yearning of the colonists to live free and under a government of their own design, was made manifest by the men who crafted the Declaration of Independence, and later, by the wise ones who penned the Constitution of the United States of America.

It is that unique opportunity, fashioned by those pioneers of freedom hundreds of years ago, which never existed before, and may never exist again. It is our responsibility to care for that tiny flame, and to spread its warm passion wherever there are people who live oppressed, and yearn for that which we take for granted today.

I wrote the following short piece a little over two years ago. It is as relevant today as it was then, to the discussion of America’s place in the world, and her role in spreading the flame of freedom. Give it some thought in terms of our being stewards of a unique phenomenon, perhaps never to be replicated again if we fail to protect the tiny spark.

We can live here, relatively protected, and isolated from the rest of the world. However, to do so would be tantamount to allowing that flame to consume all of the fuel for our own selfish purposes. Once consumed, the flame will wither. The only way to keep it going is to pass it around, and let the flame catch on wherever opportunity arises.

The United States of Buffoonery

Every so often, I must vent a bit. I realize that not all Democrats are ultra-liberals. They are not all Buffoons, and so they are at least not all liberal Buffoons. Yet, I dare say, that the Democrat leadership has likely held many seminars on the proper care, feeding, and usage of these liberal Buffoon suits, which were purchased at the behest of Mr. Howard Dean, I can only surmise this to be true. I suspect that these were quickly disbursed following the November elections. Anyway, my vent-therapy commences below.
Securely, I am wedged into the living-room pilot’s seat. The remote control is glued firmly to the palm of my hand. An agile thumb hovers over the buttons, ready at a moment's notice to enter familiar cable coordinates.

I deftly navigate around torturously obnoxious commercials. I travel from the Discovery Channel to Fox News. Then a short hop with a layover at the Learning Channel en route to NASA-TV. Once in awhile, I become trapped in a holding pattern at the Sci-Fi Channel until a surprise commercial casts me into evasive maneuvers.

My passengers are dizzy by now, and have entered stand-by mode. Their eyes are directed toward the television screen, but in reality, they are in a semi-conscious state. I have effectively hypnotized them with rapid-fire channel surfing.

Suddenly, a commotion on the screen causes my thumb to stutter. In disbelief, I shout an alert to my passengers. They are violently taken out of stand-by mode and become wide-eyed with a surge of adrenaline.

"Look at that…" I declare. "Did you see that?"

The scene before us is utter chaos. This time, it is the Taiwanese Parliament. Another time it may be South Korea, Russia, India, Ukraine, Australia, or France. We see grown men and/or women throwing fists, microphone stands, chairs, and who knows what else at each other. Some are hiding behind tables while others are looking for projectiles.

We laugh in disbelief, and I am smug in a self-righteous cocoon of grand civility. Gee Whiz… I’m certainly glad we don’t act like that in this country. I think this to myself; or perhaps I say it aloud.

Mittens Made from Kittens

Hold on now… put down the pitchforks. I like cats, and most of them seem to like me back. I like dogs and other animals too; at least the ones that don't view me as dinner. Bugs are a different matter. One bug looks vicious, but he only crawls up your arm because you are in the way. Another one looks perfectly innocent as it prepares to bite you and turn your flesh into a black puddle of festering goo.

What I think about cats, dogs, and bugs really has nothing to do with my topic, but then, you have no clue what the topic is at this point. I just wanted to give you a moment to calm down. Certainly, a few cat lovers blew a retinal blood vessel or two after reading the headline, which brings me conveniently back to the actual topic.

Ann Coulter, some would say, pulled a real "boner" when she used the word "faggot" during a recent speech. She defended the use of the word as being an obvious sophomoric slam directed toward presidential candidate, John Edwards. Her intention, she said, was to convey the notion that he is a wimp.

Wow... I typed three things in the above paragraph, all of which makes my skin feel squirmy and exposed. Perhaps my sophomoric lack of sophistication is to blame, but I simply cannot get used to the word boner as a word that should be used in polite company.

I doubt that I have ever called anyone a faggot, and I am almost as certain that I have never written anything where the word was needed. Of course, the third item in the aforementioned paragraph should make everyone's skin crawl. The name John Edwards ought to give you the shivers. If it doesn't, well, I guess you give me the shivers too.

The first time I ever heard the word boner used to describe an error, was in a tenth-grade English class. Our teacher was an adorable old woman who had been everyone's English teacher since the end of the Second World War. If memory serves, a fellow classmate was recounting an embarrassing event. The teacher laughed with the rest of us, and punctuated the moment by saying, "Oh dear, you pulled a real boner, didn't you?"

There was a look of utter shock on every teenage face in that room. Had she stripped off her dress and danced go-go style on her wooden desk, the flush on our pimpled faces would have been no less obvious. I'm confident that she followed up by defining the term for us, but the trauma of the moment clouds my memory to this day.

Global Warming: Caused by Pepsi, Coke, and Al Gore?

Now, before the corporate lawyers for these beverage giants suffer the effects of knotty underwear, let me state for the record that these two companies are not implicated by any scientific study that I am aware of, for causing global climate change. In fact, the only reason I used Pepsi and Coke in the headline, is that those two names are synonymous when speaking about soft drinks in general.

I do have some anecdotal evidence; however, which at the very least is interesting for intelligent people to consider while discussing the cause and effect of CO2 in the atmosphere. There is a website called Science-House.org, on which I discovered a simple experiment for measuring the weight of carbon dioxide gas in a 16 ounce bottle of Pepsi One soda. The article title was: “How much CO2 is in a Bottle of Soda?” by Dr. David G. Haase, The Science House.

Upon completion of the experiment, the author determined that approximately 2.2 grams of carbon dioxide gas is contained in each bottle of soda. At least that was the amount of gas that he could extract from the liquid.

On another website called DrHealthSecrets.com, they claim that in the United States during the year 2000, more than 15 billion gallons of soda was sold. According to a CIA website fact-book, there were an estimated 298,444,215 people in the United States as of July 2006. So by my rough calculations, that means that every man, woman, and child in the U.S. drinks 50.26 gallons of soda in a year's time.

With that in mind, and knowing that whatever we put into our bodies will eventually come out, we can roughly calculate the amount of carbon dioxide gas that is belched or otherwise deposited into the atmosphere by soda-bloated consumers in this country. The human race in America loads the atmosphere with 132 million kilograms, or 291 million pounds of carbon dioxide gas, every year, simply by drinking soda pop.

Nancy Pelosi Faces Inconvenient Truth

Dear goodness almighty, the Speaker of the House is in a pother over comments made by Vice President Cheney. From her indignation, one might be led to believe that the Vice President grabbed some false notion out of left field and used it to smear the lady's good name. Unfortunately for us, what the Vice President said is completely accurate, and is a sentiment shared by yours truly. (see: Hagel and Democrats Proving al-Zawahiri Right. Jan 24, 2007)

Nancy Pelosi, as quoted in a FoxNews.com article:
"You cannot say as the president of the United States, 'I welcome disagreement in a time of war,' and then have the vice president of the United States go out of the country and mischaracterize a position of the speaker of the House and in a manner that says that person in that position of authority is acting against the national security of our country,"
Vice President Cheney, as quoted in FoxNews.com article:
"I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the Al Qaeda strategy," the vice president told ABC News. "The Al Qaeda strategy is to break the will of the American people ... try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit."

Ms. Speaker, what really is intolerable is that we have al-Zawahiri's own testimony to what al-Qaeda's strategy is. We have the Speaker of the House of Representatives, John Murtha, most Democrats, and a few delusional Republicans who are bound and determined to follow his plan to the letter. This situation we have in the Congress today is a heart-crushing blow to the integrity of the United States, and yes indeed, it has to make me wonder about the values and priorities of the Democrats.

The truth is ugly Madam Speaker, and it really is inconvenient that your plan and the plan of al-Qaeda's number two man seem to be in lock-step. The best that we could hope for, is that the scales will drop from your eyes before it is too late to undo the damage.

The Wrong Side of the Hole

Do you ever feel this way? That sometimes life is like an outhouse, and you’re on the wrong side of the hole. I get to feeling like that once in awhile.

We are all trying to claw our way toward the light for one reason or another. Frequently, I need to remind myself of a simple truth. There is but one hand, strong enough, to lift me up and out. All I have to do is ask for it.

Now that does not mean that I will come out smelling like a rose. I may have been lifted out of the wretched pool of yuck, a good measure of which was deposited there by my own actions, but it will take some serious elbow grease to remove it from my person. In fact, the stench might hang around until some measure of time has passed.

Least you think that I am speaking in some kind of code; perhaps it is best if I just quote some scripture. In Philippians 4:13, Paul says…

“I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.”
He was not speaking of performing feats of wonder. His life was anything but easy, and the people were marveling at how he could continue under the hardships he endured. I have heard that to see Paul without his shirt or whatever it was that he wore; one would cringe at the tangle of scarred flesh.

He was endlessly whipped, beaten, stoned, and imprisoned because he shared the good news, that Jesus had defeated sin for all who would choose to believe in him. Paul was speaking about his dedication to God's purpose in his life, rather than boasting that he could accomplish anything that he set his mind too.

So, when I find myself treading “water” on the wrong side of the hole, I need to remember that God has a purpose for me. He will lift me up and strengthen me, to make it possible for me to fulfill that purpose.

If my sights are set on becoming a billionaire, then I will likely spend a lot of time dodging clumps of bad smelling debris while floating in the darkness. Some are intensely focused on gaining power and prestige at all costs as seems evident by watching many in the political realm.

As I work to rid my own person of the stench from past dips on the dark side of the hole, I cannot help but notice the fumes rising from so many in public life. It seems irresistible at times, to cut loose on them. Perhaps that tendency of mine is something that could use a bit more elbow grease. I’ll have to give that some more thought.

IDIOTS!

There's not much more to be said...

WASHINGTON — House Democrats on Friday sent the Bush administration the clearest message to date on Iraq by passing a resolution that opposes the president's plan to send an additional 21,500 troops to the war-torn country.

“Today, in a loud voice, the Congress of the United States said to the president: 'We need a new direction in Iraq,'” said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., after the 246-182 vote.

...other than, looks like you're getting your wish, Mr. Al-Zawahiri. The United States Congress is on board and working hard to fulfill your dreams. Some of you wonder why I seem so 'bitter' in my political writing. Perpetual nausea will to that to a guy after awhile.

I have this frightful image in my head of a room filled with cockroaches, swarming aimlessly in all directions. That is what comes to mind when I think of the House of Representatives and the Senate, in their pathetic stampede to demonstrate our propensity to 'Cut and Run' over, and over again.

Liberalism: Self-Induced Schizophrenia

Yes indeed, after a brief eye-opening flash of insight, I have become half convinced that liberalism is a previously unconsidered form of schizophrenia. Perhaps I should be the first to admit that if my theory were published in Psychiatry Today, it would be hard pressed to survive peer review for two reasons. The first and most significant of course, is that I am not a psychiatrist. In fact, I have no training whatsoever in the science of mental illness. The second reason, and perhaps the more fatal of the two is that liberalism holds a significant membership in the field of psychiatry, not to mention academia in general.

To get things started, let us just take a quick look at the introductory definition of schizophrenia, as provided by Wikipedia:

Schizophrenia (from the Greek word σχιζοφρένεια, or shjzofre'neja, meaning "split mind") is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception or expression of reality and by significant social or occupational dysfunction. A person experiencing schizophrenia is typically characterized as demonstrating disorganized thinking, and as experiencing delusions or hallucinations, in particular auditory hallucinations.

You must be asking, where in the world do I see a correlation here between this mental disorder and the ideological mindset commonly referred to as liberalism? However, before I point out the little factoids, jumping up and down while waving their little arms above their heads; I must relate some observations that have become glaringly obvious these past few years. In fact, these liberal traits have moved beyond annoying, and have become downright dangerous over the last two or three years.

Liberals; a.k.a. Democrats; a.k.a. George W. Bush haters have melded their political and ideological pathology into a simple to follow script. Perhaps it could better be described as a Creed; having the effect of unifying the various self-serving factions into an almost religious devotion. This Creed, or script simply states that if George W. Bush did “it”, or wants “it”, or supports “it”, then the faithful will immediately stand 180 degrees in condemnation and opposition to “it.”

I do not need to give particular examples, because this has been clearly visible since the Presidential elections of 2000. It has held true, predictably and in some cases admittedly for the entire Bush Presidency. Except, I might point out, for a brief thirty-day period following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.

Now, what I have found while participating in “discussions” of any or all subjects related to the Bush Administration’s handling of anything, not to mention the war on terror or the war in Iraq, is that liberals define the President and his decisions as failed and catastrophic, no matter what or when or why. The only real justification for these condemnations typically boils down to a single-minded proof; dissection of which simply reveals the faith-based fact that “it” is so because “we” say it is. In addition, it is further proved, because we have been saying “it” is so for all these many years.

I propose, that even a simple-minded man should be able to stand to the side and see this delusion with barely a strain to a single neuron. The illness has so destroyed the liberal’s ability to separate this manufactured reality from historical truth, that I am now fearful for the very fabric of our federation.

You can see now, that schizophrenia is evidenced when an individual has impairments in the perception or expression of reality. They also experience delusions and/or hallucinations, in particular auditory hallucinations. Liberals have imposed upon themselves this shifted perception, and thus are unable to express historical fact within the bounds of reality. They suffer from a form of “practiced” delusions and quite literally experience auditory hallucinations, every time they hear themselves speak.

I offer this explanation of liberalism as a previously unrecognized form of schizophrenia, for the purpose of identifying what appears to be a national mental health crisis. Perhaps there is hope, that younger generations of citizens can be watchful and vigilant, and will have an opportunity to avoid this heart wrenching disorder from manifesting itself in their own lives.

Hagel and Democrats Proving al-Zawahiri Right

This is a time in history, which makes me sick to my stomach. Democrats in the House and Senate, and some near-sighted Republicans, such as Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska are now actively participating in the grand scheme of al-Qaeda. This was evidenced for everyone to see in 2005 when U.S. forces captured documents, including a letter from al-Qaeda's number two leader, al-Zawahiri to the now dead terrorist in Iraq, al-Zarqawi.

Here is a key snip from about midway through the sprawling letter from the Osama bin-Laden’s left hand lunatic.

You might ask an important question: What drives me to broach these matters while we are in the din of war and the challenges of killing and combat?

My answer is, firstly: Things may develop faster than we imagine. The aftermath of the collapse of American power in Vietnam-and how they ran and left their agents-is noteworthy. Because of that, we must be ready starting now, before events overtake us, and before we are surprised by the conspiracies of the Americans and the United Nations and their plans to fill the void behind them. We must take the initiative and impose a fait accompli upon our enemies, instead of the enemy imposing one on us, wherein our lot would be to merely resist their schemes.

If you never have read this translated letter for yourself, please take time to do so now. These “people” are scattered across the globe, and they think no more highly of the American People, than they would a nest of rats out behind the camel barn.

http://ensign.senate.gov/static_media/101105_zarkawi_letter.pdf

What is the matter with you people who have buckled under the strain of war? No one wants to see our troops engaged in deadly combat. No one wants to see their sons and daughters, at mortal risk in Iraq. But this is not some kind of worn out tradition that we can just grow tired of and cancel. This is a battle for peace and security for generations to come. If this war is not ended on our terms, you can bet your eye-teeth that your grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be fighting and dying over the same issues for
